Welcome to Stoned Romeos .com.

Stoned Romeos is Doug Amey, Billy Babjak, & Lorenz Cornelisen.

Doug Amey and Billy Babjak have been collaborating on music for years. Their first project,"The Nines" with Pittsburgh drummer Phil Christ, took them on a hectic tour schedule back in the 90's playing gigs 4 nights a week with stops at venues such as San Francisco's legendary Fillmore and Warfield theatres. Their CD "Street Noise" received glowing reviews from the Critics, and a great deal of airplay. The Band split after their second tour with The Smithereens to pursue different music projects. Recently Doug and Billy hooked up to work on some new material, and together with drummer Lorenz Cornelisen, started playing gigs in the Bay Area as Stoned Romeos. Their new CD "Disposable Pop Songs" is the result of this new collaboration.

The Band

The Stoned Romeos

Doug Amey (Bass, Vocals, Songwritter)
Doug is a West Coast transplant from Neptune City, NJ. He's an insane bassist, a prolific songwriter, and never seems to stay in one place very long. Currently he can be found playing shows in New York. According to Lorenz, they'll be hanging out in Hamburg sometime soon.

Billy Babjak (Guitars, Vocals, Songwriter)
Billy grew up in Carteret, New Jersey where he was influenced by loud guitar-driven Rock bands. Be it British Invasion, Roots Rock, or Driving Punk, if it has raging guitars with attitude, it probably got Billy's attention. Billy is amazing to watch on-stage. He plays with ferocity, fire, and energy, as if his next breath depended upon it.

Lorenz Cornelisen (Drums, Vocals)
Lorenz was born and raised in Hamburg, Germany. He moved to Los Angeles to study and pursue a degree in drumming. (There's a lucrative Major for you kids!) Lorenz got his degree, gigged all over LA and Southern CA, and one day followed a beautiful woman to the Bay Area where he ran into Doug and Billy. Lorenz is a powerful well rounded drummer schooled in all forms of music.

The musical influences of this new Band are wide and varied. British Invasion, Rock and Pop, American Roots, Punk, Blues, Psychedelic, you name it, they've incorporated it. The Lyrics are brilliant, the Melodies colorful and strong, and the unforgettable hooks never stop coming at you. Billy Babjak's incredibly powerful Guitar work is at the heart of this music. He will lull you into a trance with songs such as "Empty Suit" or the haunting "Craving" and then you will be rudely awakened with the Townsend-esque power chords and driving leads on songs like "Happy" and "Bump in the Road".
Doug Amey and Lorenz Cornelisen make up the driving rhythm section of the Stoned Romeos, and Billy couldn't ask for a better foundation upon which to launch his assault! Lorenz, who lives part of the year in Hamburg, Germany, plays with finesse when needed and ferocity when called for, and Billy calls for a lot of that! Doug is an insane bassist and provides the driving underbelly of this power trio. He claims "There's not much I can't do with a bass guitar, but when Billy starts playing, I figure half my job is just staying out of his way." All the material on "Disposable Pop Songs" are Amey & Babjak collaborations.
